While I’ve tried to avoid the trap of having friends and family on the show, this story of young people training to run the Gold Coast Marathon ticked too many of the Radio Adelaide boxes too resist. Family friend Sam sounded relaxed and knowledgeable and this worked well as a shorter interview.
I’ve been working to shorten interviews on the program, making an effort to ask no more questions after six minutes, and to wrap it up within seven. This means that often questions I want to ask aren’t answered, but seven minutes is still a long time for someone to concentrate and anyone tuning in halfway through may tune out again if they don’t know what we’re talking about. I will try to mix the shorter interviews such as this one with the more in-depth conversations over the course of the show.
